Who are they?

Who are these fools running for the Republican nomination for President? If you listen to the debates you have to be aware that they have no respect for each other. Never mind the fact that the Republican Party refuses to even entertain the thought that anything the Democratic Party has to say is worthwhile, they can’t even agree with each other. Is this the best the Republican Party has to offer?
As I said before I am a little disappointed with Barack Obama even though I voted for him. I think he is a little too soft in dealing with the Republicans and even the Democrats in congress. However I don’t see anyone in this Republican bunch that can hold a candle to him in intelligence. I think Obama can just phone it in and beat these clowns.
I don’t wish to pick a fight with my Republican friends but you have to believe that your party has to have something better. Ronald Reagan himself wouldn’t vote for any of these guys.

Elect Me to Congress

I don’t have any of the answers to the economic problems we are facing or any of the other problems we face (i.e.: Immigration, Abortion, Healthcare etc.), but it looks like that is a requirement for the job, being clueless. I want to be able to strut around acting important but not actually accomplishing anything and than getting a great pension for life afterwards. Why can’t I have that cushy job? I could do either party, and could always find dirt to spread about the other side. In between I could attend all the fund raising cocktail parties and dinners. After all being as I’m not doing my job I’ll have a lot of free time on my hands. So vote for me. I’m about ready for one of those fact finding vacations that congressman are famous for.

Failing Economy

I am told that we are in a financial crisis. Based on the number of foreclosures and amount of homeless people we now have I have to believe it’s true. However other truths seem to contradict this scenario. Please explain to me;
I see in a catalog I just received that they are selling jeans to teenagers that are full of holes and worn out when they buy them, and they’re selling for $50.00. That is a trivial thing to be concerned about in comparison to other products.
The Apple iPhone 4 sold 1.7 million units by June 26. That pales in comparison to the iPhone 4S, which sold 4 million units in its first weekend. The Apple Company with all its products made 5.33 billion dollars in the 2nd quarter. Now don’t get me wrong the Apple Company makes outstanding products. I checked on line though at Amazon .com and the iPhone 4 (16Gb) sells for $714.99. Can I justify spending that much money on an unnecessary cell phone while I might have neighbors who through no fault of their own may be losing their homes or are having trouble feeding their families.
I don’t mean to single out Apple because there are many more examples out there. I’m just having trouble grasping the disparity of the situation.

Hitting Bottom

How much money is available in the United States? There has to be a total amount.
We live in a capitalist society.
If you’re smart enough, or can dream up a product that other people are willing to pay for you can be rich. If the product is very good and you can improve on it you can become even richer.
Now consider the fact that yours is not the only company in this scenario. Now we have a whole bunch of super rich people. Sooner or later that total amount of money is going to start disappearing from the general population because the super rich have most of it.
Now what happens is their companies’ profits start decreasing because there isn’t as much available cash out there. Now the super rich in order to save money start laying off workers or moving their companies overseas for cheaper labor. This is a downward spiral because the customer base is always decreasing.
Do you know a way out of this problem? We need a leader who does.

Want to meet Woman?

If any man wants to meet women I have a sure fire plan. At work anyway. All he has to do is keep a supply of Tissues, Chewing Gum, and Hand Lotion at his desk and let it be known that they are free to be used by anyone. Eventually he will get to know just about every woman in the company. Or at least all the younger ones.

Term Limits

Someone needs to tell me what the problem is with term limits for politicians. Are people too lazy to go to the polls to vote them out or are they worried that the majority of the people will want to vote in someone they don’t like. What if FDR had been limited to two terms?
If I can throw in my two cents worth, I think we should do away with term limits all together and limit all political offices to two years only. If the politician is working for the people he can stay there forever being voted in every two years. If their not doing the job you don’t have to wait four to six years to vote them out.
Also they are required to only speak of their accomplishments in political commercials with no mention of their opponent.

No Super Markets

We had the corner grocery store. I remember it as Teddy’s grocery.
I do remember ration coupons when I was real young. If you needed coffee from the store you needed a ration coupon for coffee. If you needed sugar you needed a ration coupon for sugar. Well Teddy took care of the neighborhood. If my Mom wanted me to get a pound of sugar and she only had a coupon for coffee, or tobacco or whatever Teddy would take that coupon and give her sugar. He was doing this for everyone so somehow he could make it come out right.
He also kept a tab for everyone so that if you needed groceries and you were a little short that week or month he would let you have them on credit. When I got older I often wondered if he ever got all that he was owed. I don’t think Teddy was worried about it but I think I’ll ask him when I see him in the afterlife. Teddy’s was a great store for groceries of all kinds especially because it was right on the corner, and my Mom who did most of the shopping had to walk to the stores.
I also remember if you wanted meat you went to the local butcher shop. If you wanted fish you went to the local fish market. Baked goods, you guessed it the local bakery. People cooked fresh food. There was no frozen food. No one had a home freezer. As a matter of fact no one had a refrigerator. What we had was an ice box, and once a week you had a block of ice delivered by the “Ice Man”. Today the super market has a produce section. Back in the day we had a produce store which sold nothing but fruits and vegetables. I have to say that I was raised on the fresh food that the so called “Health Nuts” of today are recommending

The Company

“This company sucks” you say! Or maybe your statement might be that “this is a great company to work for.” In reality your feelings probably fall somewhere between these two extremes.
When you hear someone make either of these statements, do you immediately identify with them or does a little voice inside say “Not quite.” Are they talking about the same company that you work for? Do they see the same things that you see everyday? The answer to both questions is, probably not. You see although you may work for a company of 100 to 10,000 or more people. “Your Company” consists of about 10 to 20 people that you interrelate with everyday. Though the people that you interrelate with everyday also interrelate with each other their relationships are different from yours. So, in a company of say 1000 people, you actually have 1000 companies. Some good, some bad.

Abortion

Abortion brings to mind the woman who uses abortion as a means of birth control. She is either too lazy or too ignorant to use another means of contraception. She will probably have multiple abortions in her lifetime. Abortion in her case is completely wrong regardless of women’s rights. On the other hand it also brings to mind the fourteen year old girl who is pregnant because she was raped by her father. This girl’s life will be completely ruined, if it hasn’t been already, if she carries this baby to birth.
Whether abortion is right or wrong is not an easy question. To be 100% for abortion without any thought about the life you are ending is just as untenable a position as to be 100% against abortion without any compassion for the mother, as in the case of the young girl above. If we could ignore the fanatics on both sides we could probably find an answer. All the fanatics seem to believe for sure is, whoever shouts the loudest and the longest must be right.

Quitting Smoking

There is no magic pill or potion to help you quit smoking. There is only one person who can make you quit smoking. YOU! There is only one person who can make you start again. YOU! Even though you tell yourself you only started again because …… YOU are ultimately to blame.
Quitting smoking is an excellent example of the left brain, right brain, theory. Your right brain knows the reasons why you need to quit. Your left brain, however, knows what buttons to push and when to push them to make you fail. Your right brain can win, but it needs to be kept in the picture. You need to keep it active by constantly reminding yourself of the reasons for quitting. Your left brain is always waiting for your right brain to drop its guard. Fighting this battle with your left brain is like playing poker against someone who can see your cards.
